Whether your child is still learning to read through phonics or is reading longer texts independently, reading at home is absolutely key to developing their confidence in this incredibly important skill. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to share time and bond, whether this is you reading to them or them reading to you or other family members. Studies have shown that reading for enjoyment is one of the biggest predictors of educational success, meaning it is vital that we do, as the Open University says, ‘Just relax and read’. Though we have physical books at school that we are happy for children to borrow and return, it is important to us that children have access to a wide and diverse range of interesting books at home too. To ensure a good story is only ever a tap away, we have created log-ins for the Oxford Owl e-library for you and your child to access from the comfort of home. We especially recommend our pupils using phonics interventions to access the site at home and use the Read Write Inc texts available to show you their developing reading skills and get that all-important practice in. Follow this link and use the log-ins below to access the e-library now:
The e-books are best viewed on a computer, laptop or tablet (they are not optimised for mobile phones).
