Rivelin

At Willow Park, we offer daily phonics or guided reading sessions for all Rivelin pupils. Following the Read Write Inc program, we ensure systemic and engaging lessons prepare all pupils with the ability to decode and enjoy reading. Progress is assessed each half-term and pupils will be re-grouped to provide an appropriate new challenge. As part of our dedication to pupils learning to read with rapid progression, we also offer precision teaching interventions for select pupils. 1:1 daily reading is also provided within classes at a level appropriate to each child.

Loxley and Sheaf

When pupils move to our Loxley and Sheaf key stages, they are offered 1:1 phonics through the more age-appropriate Fresh Start intervention, which falls under Read Write Inc. This is delivered by our Fresh Start specialist and offered daily. Again, it is assessed every half-term to track progression and provide extra intervention through precision teaching where needed. As in Rivelin, 1:1 reading is also provided in Loxley by class teachers at a level appropriate to each child.
