The Maths curriculum at Willow Park follows the White Rose Maths scheme of work, which educators personalise to create engaging, accessible lessons. This ensures that every pupil, from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, has the opportunity to achieve excellence in maths.

Teaching and learning will be guided by each student's starting points and learning gaps. These are assessed using formative assessments and other tools, including Complete Maths, to gain a deeper understanding of each student's individual learning journey in maths.

It is our aim in the teaching of Maths at Willow to:

• Create independent, resilient learners who have the skills to think mathematically, enabling them to reason and problem-solve confidently.
• Support and stretch learners, using a creative mastery approach that narrows gaps in learning.
• Teach a language-focused curriculum that develops mathematical talk, so pupils can communicate their ideas effectively.
• Achieve the highest possible qualifications in Maths to prepare our pupils to continue their studies and be able to apply their learning to everyday life.

Qualifications

In Key Stage 2, pupils in Rivelin have the opportunity to participate in the Year 4 multiplication test and SATS exam in Year 6, provided that it aligns with their educational path and targets.

As pupils’ transition into Key Stage 4, students will access a curriculum which is tailored to support them in gaining a qualification which is both aspirational and achievable for them. Throughout years 10 and 11, pupils will have the opportunity to sit for qualifications in order to prepare them for their final examinations in year 11 and to also ensure they leave Willow Park with a Maths qualification.
